  • Hi,

You will see a event log following the full backup of the replica telling you that it won't immediatly delete logs for source and copy storage groups.

Database log truncation has been requested for this storage group. Log truncation will occur on the active copy after the next log generation is created. Log truncation will occur automatically on the passive copy after that log file is copied.

Check if the log replication is working healthy. run get-storagegroupcopystatus to confirm that replication is healthy.

  • Hi,

The application event log on the exchange server should tell you why transaction logs are not purged after a backup

  • I checked the Event Logs from the time backup started to the time Backup successfully completed but there are no entry related to transaction Logs purging.

  • Hi,

Strange - normally several events are logged when performing a backup.

You are backing up the active node?

  • Yes, Since Windows Server Backup supports only Active node, I am taking backup from Active node only...

  • Hi, I just noticed that in the Exchange Server when i run the Vssadmin List writers command...the output doesnt list "Microsoft Exchange Writer" , Is there a possibility that this could be the issue why my transactions logs are not purging. It could be that Windows Server Backup is just taking Exchange Storage Groups backup as normal volume/File backup which is not Exchange aware...any suggestion ?? Thanks
