APP-V 4.6 Sp3 client on Windows 8.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a APP-V 4.5 server and APP-V 4.6 Sp2 clients in my production environment. With the arrival of Windows 8.1 we need to upgrade the APP-V client to SP3 which we did successfully. Now here comes the issue.

We have various virtual applications that have been made accessible to all domain users. All applications were publishing successfully with APP-V client 4.6 Sp2 on Windows 7 machine.

But on Windows 8.1 with APP-V client 4.6 Sp3, only Microsoft Office 2010 applications and Adobe applications are published. Rest are not getting published. I am not getting the reason behind it.

There should be more applications in the list like Skype, Firefox, Winrar and many more.

  • Hello,

If there are no OS VALUE= it is allowed for all OS:es.

If there are some OS VALUE=, then it is only allowed for the OS specified.

  • Can you check in some of the failing apps (from different packages) if there are "OS VALUE=" tags in the OSD file?

Does the App-V client log file (sftlog.txt) show any interesting information?

  • sftlog.txt says that:-

The Application Virtualization Client could not parse the OSD file 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Application Virtualization Client\Temp\7a557280-c9cd-49ff-92eb-682900ff3bd7.osd'. Reason: No valid implementation for this machine (rc 07708E04-00000007)

The app manager could not create an application from '\\app-v\APPV-Share-New\wordweb sprj\WordWeb 6.0.2.0.osd' (rc 07708E44-00000007).

Yes there is "OS VALUE=" tags in the OSD file but the OS value for Windpows 8 or Windows 8.1 is not there. But the virtual package of OFFICE 2010 is getting published and launched successfully and it doesnot have any "OS VALUE=" tag in their OSD file.
