Avaya - Lync Presence integration

Question
-
Hello,
I have the following scenario:
- 1000 employees
- 200 are enabled for Enterprise voice via SIP trunk to Avaya Session Manager (Version 6)
- 50 are enabled for RCC via Avaya Enablement Server (AES)
- 750 employees have Avaya IP phones and no Lync client at all
The user are asking for transparency whether a certain contact who´s not on their infrastructure is in a call or not. So I am looking for a way to synchronize presence information between the Avaya and Lync. From my opinion, this could work with a specific form of federation. Maybe the XMPP gateway?
Thanks,
Yannick

Dear Yannick,
Those 750 users which use Avaya phone only can not sync presence with who use Lync client.
If you assume your lync is a PBX , Avaya is another one, they can not sync with each other.
But some phones installed special firmware and they can support this function.
Here’s a list that all of the available Lync IP phones .
Best Regards!

One option would be to look at the Avaya Intelligent Presence Server (IPS) this allows aggregation of presence from mulitple sources. I have not looked at it for a couple of years but if you check with your Avaya account manager I'm sure he can update you on the latest support.

Check out Avaya ACE. I just started looking at it,it does appear to have the ability to integrate Avaya Aura and Lync clients. This is without hardware*
