Project Server 2010 - Upload Multiple Projects Via Excel Or List RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone - We are using Microsoft Project Server 2010.  We are in the process of moving projects from one PPM application to MSPS 2010. Please note that we are not moving the schedules. What we want to be able to do is, move the following fields into MSP:

    • Project ID (Column A)
    • Project Name (Column B)
    • Start Date (Column C)
    • End Date (Column D)
    • Resource Names (part of project team, not assigned to tasks) - (Column E)

Project List is from row 1 - row 1000. (yes, trying to create 1000 projects at once)

If we have an excel with the above information, how can I create projects shells for these 1000 projects without creating them manually.  Thanks in advance.

    Regards

    RB

There is no built-in functionality in Microsoft Project Server 2010 that will allow you to do what you seek.  If it were me, I would write a macro in the Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel VBA programming languages to import those 1000 projects.  Hope this helps.
