Exchange Connector stopped working with fix RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I ran into a one-off exchange connector error today, it just stopped reading emails.  There were zero errors logged into any long (Operations Manager, System, Security, or Application).  The only indication that I had was that the connector in the SCSM console had "Finished with errors."

Turns out, the day before the target inbox had its primary SMTP address changed to a different domain.  We have two domains here and each account is usually configured to have two addresses, one for each domain, with one set to the primary.
    Changed from: targetEmail@thisdomain.com to: targetEmail@thatdomain.com.

Nothing else about the account had changed, just the primary SMTP email address.  The exchange server can resolve both addresses but it turns out that the exchange connector could not.  The impersonation was setup for the SMTP address that was the old primary address.

To fix this, I just had to point the connector to the new primary address and it started working again.

Here is the log entry that confirmed.  Too bad it wasn't marked as an error or warning as locating it took a long time to go through each connector log item one at a time.

  • I had a problem but found the fix myself.  Though it would be good to share with the forums in case someone else came across similar problems.
