Migrating from SCCM 2007 SP2 to SCCM 1602 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, Our current environment is SCCM 2007 SP2. We have installed SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 separately (different site code).

What will be  the best option to migrate the latest SCCM 1602?

    1) Upgrade from SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 to SCCM 1511 first. Then upgrade from  SCCM 1511 to  SCCM 1602. Then finally  SCCM 2007 SP2 to SCCM 1602 side by side migration.   OR

    2) Side by side migration from SCCM 2007 R2 to SCCM 2012 R2 Sp1. Then Upgrade to SCCM 1511 and finally SCCM 1602.

    3) Is it possible directly (side by side) migrate from SCCM 2007 SP2 to SCCM 1602?

  • Unless you are using it for anything, throw away the 2012 site and stand up a 1602 site (to do this you'll have to install a 1511 site from media and then immediately upgrade it to 1602 using the built-in servicing functionality of Current Branch). From there, you can directly migrate from your 2007 SP2 site to the new 1602 site. For reference: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt593351.aspx?#BKMK_SupportedMigrationVersions

  • Dear Sir,

Prefer: upgrade 2012 R2 SP1 to CB1511 first. Then use side-by-side migration from 2007 SP2 to CB 1511. At last upgrade CB 1511 to CB 1602 with automatic site servicing.

    Best regards

    Frank

There is nothing any Microsoft recommendation side by side migration directly from sccm 2007 sp2 to 1511 and then sccm 1602.

    Microsoft mentioning SCCM 2007 Sp2 to SCCM 2012 R2.

Because you are looking at the 2012 docs. Use the CM Current Branch ones instead.
