SCCM compliance report showing updates not included in the Software Update Group RRS feed

  • Question

  • In SCCM 2012 r2 I'm running the "Compliance 1 - Overall compliance" report. This report returns the overall compliance data for a software update group.

I had a software update group with all the updates for Server 2008R2 up until the end of December 2015. I applied this group to my collection early in January - ran the report and got 100% compliance. I ran it again today as I needed the report for a meeting and it's only 45% compliant. It's failing on a number of updates - all MS16 bulletin ID's, that don't appear in my group. I've checked the membership of the group - there's no MS16 bulletin ID's in it so why is the compliance report looking for them?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • Compliance information in ConfigMgr has nothing to do with updates within a software update group or deployed. Compliance information is collected for all updates within the catalog and this report reflects that.

If you need compliance based on a specific update group, you need to check out one of the other reports than can be filtered by the update group, write a custom report, or use one of the free or commercial reports available for this.

Gary Simmons has an excellent free dashboard: http://blogs.technet.com/b/gary_simmons_mcs/archive/2014/09/16/system-center-2012-r2-configuration-manager-software-update-compliance-dashboard-part-1.aspx

Enhansoft has a great commercial reporting offering and also makes one free report available every month (I think this month's is for update compliance): http://www.enhansoft.com/product/enhanced-web-reporting

The System Center Dudes also have a set of paid reports: https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/sccm-2012-products/

  • Thanks Jason I'll check them out.

I think the description confused me a bit - I took it as meaning that the report will show compliance data only for those updates contained in the specified software update group.
