Allocating Resources over Multiple Tasks RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

New to MS project and still struggling with a couple of functions

I have a resource that works five days a week. For the next two months I need to assign him to the same task every Monday (this is a system maintenance job) and a different task for the remainder of the week.

What is the best way of doing this?

    Thanks

    Ed

  • Hi,

    Create two new calendars:

    - One with Monday as only working day

    - One with Tue-Fri as working days

    (Through Work weeks, Details)

Through Task Information, Advanced, Define the proper Calendar as Task Calendar. When setting it, click Ignore Resource Calendar

    There you go.

    Greetings,

  • Thanks for the quick answer

How do I attached two calenders to one resource? Or is it best to create two separate resources?

    Thanks

  • If you do what Jan suggests, you don't have to attache the custom calendars to the resource(s).

You attache the calendars to the tasks.

You don't need to create two separate resources to represent what is only one resource.

Unless you have changed the resource's working times, the resource still has his original base calendar, which should be whatever the project calendar was when the resource was created.
