WAP + IIS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    Is it possible to use IIS and WAP on the same server?

    WAP is used for ADFS
    IIS is used for websites.

    both would be using a different CNAME and different SSL Certificate.

    Endpoint 443

    mfa.site.com -> IIS (azure MFA)
    adfs.site.com -> WAP>ADFS

    Technet:
    You can deploy the Web Application Proxy role service on a server that is also running the Internet Information Services (IIS) role. However, in this type of deployment, you must make sure that IIS is configured to only listen, or be bound, to URLs that are not configured as external URLs on Web Application Proxy.

    What would i need to do to be able to set IIS alongside WAP?

  • IIS is the web service engine.  WAP is a set of tools designed to run under IIS.  So, "Is it possible to use IIS and WAP on the same server?"  Not only is it possible, it is a requirement.  You can't run WAP without IIS.

    I think the question is 'is it recommended to run other IIS web sites on the same server as the one running WAP components'?  There the answer would be for the majority of cases, no.  But if you are talking about a lab environment or a very small installation, then it should work fine.

  • "Do you have any information about publishing an IIS website"

    For specific questions about IIS, it is better to post to the forum where the IIS experts lurk - iis.net/forums

    Similarly, this forum is a general purpose forum for Windows Server.  WAP is a very specialized application that has a ton of its own documentation and web sites.

  • Thanks for your reply.

    Do you have any information about publishing an IIS website, and a WAP ADFS on the same server?

    I cant seem to figure a way, on how to use IIS for a specific websitemfa/site.com , but de WAP for only the adfs.site.com
