Project Server 2010: Modify Project Templates after the templates are imported in Project Server 2010. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm using MS Project Server 2010 and have imported some of my existing project templates in Project Server.
But I'm not able to access these templates in case of doing any modifications or if the template is to be removed.

It would be highly appreciated if someone can help me out.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Asif,

In Project Professional 2010, can you click File > New > Project Server Templates (in the top row), in the dialogue box click Project Server Templates. Do you see your templates here? You should then be able to open these and edit them, saving them back as a Template in the Type field on the Save to Project dialogue box.

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Hello Asif,

Are you able to see the templates in MS project 2010 while you create a new project?

Do you have "Open Project Template " permissions which allows a user to open an Enterprise Project Template from Project Server using Microsoft Project Professional. You will need to grant this permission to all users in your organization who will be using Microsoft Project Professional to create and manage projects that are based on Enterprise Project Templates.

Also, check the Save Project template permissions also, verify if you are granted the Assign Resources and View Enterprise Resource Data category permissions in addition to this permission if they are also responsible for adding Generic resources to the Enterprise Project Template.

  • Thank you Paul !!

Can you please confirm one last thing.

Can a project template has the status of "Published" or it will always be placed as "Working"?

    Much Appreciated!!!
