All systems start reinstalling CCM client everyday at 5 pm. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since December 13, 2012 all computers will start to re-install/upgrade the configuration manager client. Before this date this never happened.

I have no deployments configured in configuration manager, nor can I find any other setting which could trigger a mass install of the configuration manager client.
Today I disabled the 'upgrade client automatically when new client updates are available' option, but I can't confirm if this resolved the issue.

Does anyone know what could cause this behavior?

  • Did you install patches on the 13th?

WMF3.0 could be causing your issue.

  • Also note that the auto upgrade feature in 2012 RTM is essentially broken and will also cause you issues. It is only meant for client SP upgrades so having it enabled in the first place is something no one should do.

  • Thanks for the information. I have uninstalled the WMF3.0 update and reinstalled the MP role.

I will see if the mass re-installs have stopped.

I also noticed that the WMF3.0 has been pulled from WSUS today.
