  • In order to determine the actual state Windows is in, run this command in an elevated command prompt and then paste the contents of report.txt in your reply:

    Licensingdiag.exe -report %userprofile%\desktop\report.txt -log %userprofile%\desktop\repfiles.cab

  • Did you upgrade to Win 10 ? Can you explain a bit ? As far as win 7 is concerned, you can install the same key again. on same hardware and also use Windows 7 Key on Windows 10.

  • Hi irunibike,

First of all, I want to confirm which type of activate license key have you used? OEM or Retail?

We may try to run SLUI 04 and follow up the wizard to get phone activation.

I would like to state that if you make a significant hardware change to your computer, you will be required to reactivate it. Refer to the link:

Activating Windows: frequently asked questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/activating-windows-faq#1TC=windows

Please let me know if such changes has been happened on your computer to trigger reactivation.

In addition, If you used OEM key to active the windows and changed the hardware before, I’m afraid we have to connect the manufacturer for further help.

For retailed licensing, did you post the product key on a public site? I suspected if the key has been stolen to use.

    Best Regards,

    Tao

  • Sorry I haven't got back to you. I have been doing major remodeling on house I bought. I have not had any luck with suggestions.  It is OEM and I have not made any hardware changes.  It is the same product key used before windows crashed. I bought this computer a few years ago and never had a problem until I went to windows 10 and it crashed.  I love windows 7 Ultimate.  I have used many operating  systems as the computer tech. teacher at the school I taught in for 33 years.  I am now retired.  the product key was genuine when I bought it.

    Thanks for your help

  • Yes, I upgraded to windows 10 and used the same key. I later installed an older Sony camcorder program.  When I tried to use the program. windows 10 crashed. I re installed windows 7 ultimate  using the original product that came on the computer which was genuine.  After doing my updates I keep getting the message that my copy is not genuine. I have installed no new hardware.  It is a OEM copy.
