Upgrade SCSM 2010 to 2016

Answers

  • Hello!

To upgrade to SCSM 2016 you will have to do it in the following order:

    1. Upgrade SCSM 2010 to SCSM 2012.
    2. Upgrade SCSM 2012 to SCSM 2012 R2 (SCSM 2012 to SP1 to SCSM 2012 R2)
    3. Upgrade SCSM 2012 R2 to SCSM 2016

It's a long process and I would personally recommend to perform a clean fresh SCSM 2016 environment instead, it would also probably save you a lot of time.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • You're welcome!

Have a look at the blog post below regarding "Moving the Service Manager and DW Databases":

  • Connecting a SCSM 2010 DB with a SCSM 2016 installation is for sure not a supported way to upgrade.

You can give it a try with a test environment and check if this is working.

To get a supported SCSM 2016 environment you need to go the supported way of Microsoft described by Leon.

    Hope this helps.
