After December 11, 2018 Windows updates on Windows Server 2016 RDS Host Outlook 2010 can't search RRS feed

    Installed through Windows update on Windows Server 2016 the following on RDS host server for session based desktops

    KB 4461576 Security Update for Microsoft Outlook 2010 
    KB 4461579 Microsoft Office 2010
    KB 4471331 Adobe Flash Player
    KB 4471321 Cummulative Update for Windows Server 2016
    KB 4461570 Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010

    After installation Outlook 2010 search function does not work. 

    Windows Search service is running on server. Any guidance on how to fix?

    Hi Chris,

    What's your account type? Exchange, POP or IMAP? For Exchange account, do you have cached Exchange mode enabled?

    Does Outlook search return no results? Does this issue happen to all users?

    We can first try repairing Outlook data files to see if it helps.

    If issue persists, we can also rebuild index to test the result. To do this, please go to Control Panel > Indexing Options > Advanced > Rebuild.

    Hi Chris,

    I was informed yesterday that there is a known issue that after installing this update on Windows Server 2016, instant search in Microsoft Outlook clients fail with the error, "Outlook cannot perform the search".

    To alleviate the symptoms, run sfc /scannow as described in step 3 of Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Then restart Microsoft Outlook.

    Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
