Sharepoint Services 3.0 cannot access Sharepoint_AdminContent RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

We had a MS update go in a few days ago and since then our Sharepoint Services have been down.

The error logs point to being unable to login to the Sharepoint_AdminContent database.

After much rummaging around I stopped and restarted the SEEE services and when i try and select the properties of that DB the error message pointed out that the file for that DB could not be found.

Opened Explorer and lo and behold the Admin Content db is indeed missing.

My question is, as a complete noob, how do I recover this DB ?

Do I need to reinstall WSS 3.0 ? If so will I lose the Content DB and the config db ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

Do you have any DB backups?

If yes you can restore them.

I hope this will help you out.

  • Hi,

here you can find a KB from Microsoft for backup and restore a Database: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187510.aspx

If you re-install WSS 3.0 you will lose everthing for sure. But I can guarantee you, there is a solution.

    • Can you check please if the connectionstring is correct?
    • if the password/login has admin rights ( like sysadmin on db)
    • what is de event ID from event viewer
