IE auto Update RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

There is one application in my environment only compatible with IE8. But the IE on the clients are always auto updated by Windows update enabled. I found tools disable the IE update from Microsoft. But it seemed didn't work. Below is the registry key added in the client.

  • Hi,

Since this blocking mechanism will not block delivery of Internet Explorer through Software Update Services (SUS), Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), or Systems Management Server (SMS). Have you set it in Server side?

Meanwhile, check the value of this registry hive:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Setup\9.0\DoNotAllowIE90

  • Hi,

Are these client all in domain environment and Window 7 with SP1 edition?

If yes, how did you deploy these three applications? What's your Server operating system?

Please check if this application is installed successfully in client side.

In addition, you could refer to this guide to do it again:

How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Server 2003

Meanwhile, check if you have set any other group policy to come into conflict with this.

  • I ran the three tools on the testing PC not through the domain group policy.
