common view for all lists RRS feed

  • hi,

    I am using share point 2007 .

    I have a site level content type with 3 columns (title, month, Date ) . this content type will be used with most of the lists of sub sites. I need to do group by month and date ,  can I do this @ any common place so that goup by will be applicable for all lists that use this content type .

  • SharePoint not provide any OOTB webpart or way to make view of multiple list. You have to create one application page for this,where you will write own business logic to create a view.

  • first suggestion: i suggest you create a content type developed my visual studio and do the enhances you need to like group by month and date, when a new list is created by this content type.

    second: how about creating a feature to do the grouping on existing lists and on existing content types, this is complex i guess but try ..

    Alternatively, you can use content query to filter by content type and group by month.

  • Hi,

    I didn't try yet, but I am suggesting to create a custom list template (in this case a document library) with the content type and the defined view. Then you may have to import the list-template on the subsites and you can pick it each time you are creating a library with that content type in it.

    Would be worth a try...
