How to include Ethernet-LAN Driver during inplace upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone,

We have just started using SCCM for in-place upgrade. When we try to do in-place upgrade Lenovo M900 Desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. However, after Windows 10 is installed, we found it is missing the Ethernet Driver and the rest of the task sequences could not carry on. Please could you help to share how can we include the Ethernet driver during in-place upgrade so the rest can go on?

    Thank you so much.

  • Dear Sir,

You can use a step called 'Download Package Content' to download driver package content and use a variable to store the path. Then in 'Upgrade Operating System' step, check to install pre-staged driver.

Below is a full task sequence regarding in upgrade, you can check as an example.

(Step 6 is add drivers to the task sequence)

  • You can use "Download Package Content" Task sequence steps (with conditions) to be used in the "Upgrade Operating System" step.

  • What version of Configuration Manager are you using to perform the in place upgrade? The imported Task Sequence that was made available with 2012 R2 SP1 or the new Upgrade Operating System Task Sequence that is available from 1511 onwards (current branch)?
