Restricted Group


  • Why can't i create restricted group on windows server 2012R2 by Group policy? i follow all of the website that guide for creating restricted group, but when i right click on property of Administrators group not see group that is add to restricted group, and i use command line gpupdate /force ready.

    Maybe if you can provide some more details on how you configured restricted groups and what exactly are you trying to accomplish.

    Why doesn't you use the GPP Local Users and Groups instead?

  • I have just followed the steps mentioned in "Modify local group membership and keep existing members" section in the last link you shared.
    My AD group displays well in the local "Administrators" group on each client affected by this GPO.
    Please first double check your steps against the article by yourself and see if anything is wrong. Also run "gpresult /h C:\result.html" command to see if the policy is received correctly on client machine.
    Also, as mentioned by <Calin> above, we can achieve the same behavior by using the Local Users and Groups:
