knowledge base template SharePoint 2010

Question

There seems to be a great deal of confusion as to whether or not Microsoft will be releasing upgrades for SharePoint 2010. The Knowledge Base template is a big one and it appears that many others are in the same awkward spot that we are. My company has accumulated hundreds of critical articles over the past 3 years using MOSS 2007 and Knowledge Base template. It is a core resource. We suspended a SharePoint 2010 upgrade in July understanding (from a MS forum) that upgrades to at least some of the 40 SP application templates would be forthcoming. Now we are hearing a different message from MS and it seems that is no longer the plan.
Does Microsoft have advice or guidance for those of us who have placed years of valuable accumulated knowledge into that Knowledge Base and are now unable to go forward. What are we to do?

You can check out the versions created by TechSolutions, I've not used them myself but you can find them here . The updated knowledge base template was added at the beginning of the month.

Hi Richard - I'm guessing you may have already read the post on 8.18.2010 by Samanta Robertson, which states that "Microsoft is not releasing new versions of these templates for SharePoint 2010 Products." I've been looking for a solution myself and have continually made attempts to stir the pot to bring more attention to this problem. If you wouldn't mind posting to Samantha's blog... I think it would benefit our cause and bring about more attention; you put it well in your comment. I've been searching the internet looking for others having this issue and linking them back to Samanta's posting in an attempt to get more attention from Microsoft on this issue. Samantha has already stated that she is "passing all this feeback along to the product team."
Thx Richard

We use Microsoft 40 Application Templates especially the Knowledge-base. This is really a big disppointment for Microsoft not to make these templates in SharePoint 2010.
I see the blog about Tech Solutions. It seems that the templates would only work for SharePoint Foundation 2010 (free) and not SharePoint 2010 (product). Can anyone clarify on this? We are upgrading MOSS 2007 and WSS 3.0 to SharePoint 2010. Thanks.
