SCOM Agent installation Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

We have SCOM 2012 r2 , when we install agent through discovery . We got the below error

The Operations Manager Server cannot process the install/uninstall request for computer xxxxx due to failure of operating system version verification.

    Operation: Agent Install

    Install account: XXXXX

    Error Code: 80070035

Error Description: The network path was not found.

Any idea what would be the issue here ?

Gone through some forum , but no luck

  • Hi There,

Please check if the Agent is able to ping the MS and vice versa.

Check if the Agent is able to telnet and open Port 5723 of the MS ?

Check if your Firewall ports are opened correctly and also check if your Antivirus is blocking the installation from being performed.

  • Can you check if the Server service is running?

If this service is not started, it will cause scom agent deployment push issues too.

  • Hi There,

Is this agent installation failing only for one agent or is the same error appearing for all the agents ?

  • Hi,

As this issue is for some of your servers, it is mostly like a network connection issue between the management server and agents. In addition, you may change to use another account to install the agent and check the result.

Have you checked if the Agent is able to telnet and open Port 5723 of the MS. You may ping the FQDN name of the MS from the agent and check the result.

  • I have seen this with NTLM restrictions. These settings did break the push installation:

    ValueName: MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0\RestrictSendingNTLMTraffic
    Computer Setting: 1

    ValueName: MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0\RestrictReceivingNTLMTraffic
    Computer Setting: 1

Changing the related GPO that did set the values to 0 did solve this.

  • Sounds like a connectivity / firewall issue. Verify that local firewall on managed machine and network firewalls between MS and managed machine allow RPC and file sharing traffic. Check that you are able to open shares (C$) on computer to be managed from MS.

  • Hi

Kevin Holman has a great blog on troubleshooting agent install issues here:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2009/01/27/console-based-agent-deployment-troubleshooting-table.aspx

The error you state has "Manual Agent Install" as the "fix".

    Could you confirm:

    1. The agent is in the same domain as the SCOM Management Server?

    2. Can you do an NSLookup from the Management Server to the agent FQDN?

    3. If you try and install the agent manually, do you get an error or does it complete?

    Cheers

    Graham
