Profile Pictures and Network Performance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

We have around 450 mailboxes, and we were thinking to add a profile picture for every mailbox.

Now,the company have 10+ detachments, the main one, where the Exchange Server is hosted, have a 10Mb MPLS fiber connection, while all the others work on a 2Mb MPLS.

Assuming a ~5-10KB profile picture foreach mailbox,

will adding profile pictures on every mailbox impact the performance in any significant manner?

Also, side question, are profile pictures cached in local on every pc or not? (so they need to be downloaded only once)

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

It shouldn't really impact the servers, i have had customers with more than 10 000 mailboxes on that kind of link and each account has a picture in AD by default.

  • Well, that's reassuring, thanks for the reply, and what about network performance?

Is it going to slow down internet browsing/file trasfer by a notch or will it be transparent on that front too?

    Thanks.
