MAPS and firewalls RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

It would be useful if MAPS could be configured to scan domains behind firewalls.  I have 2 LANs: the main one I can scan with MAPS ok.  The 2nd domain is an issolated domain with a number of servers and pcs in it.  I have rdp, ping etc access through the firewall to the 2nd domain.  Can't install either the MAPS software or office in that domain.  When trying to scan domain 2 from domain 1, MAPS can't authenticate the domain creds.  I've told MAPS to scan an IP range only (no AD discovery) but it still fails.

    Solution:

    Configurable port for scanning on.

‘Blind’ scanning mode – MAPS pings IP range and then connects on (trying multiple ports if needed) and if asked for, uses the supplied credentials.

Alternatively, the lite version mentioned in another post would also work.

    Thanks,

    B

  • To make sure we understand what you're proposing, you'd like WMI on the target computers to be configurable to listen on a particular port?
