Steady State or IE Problem or PDF or PHP Problem? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Steady State is loaded on a Dell Optiplex 755 with Windows XP Professional with SP 3.  Visiting http://register.shelby.tn.us/, click on Marriage Records 1820 - 1829 under Record Type in center of page, search on a last name, try to open a tiff or pdf file associated with the image to the right and we get an error message  "You must do a search to view a document".  This only happens with computers with steady state running IE7, IE8 but does not happen with Firefox.  We can open up the image on computers not locked down with Steady State.  We can open up TIFF and PDF Files not found at http://register.shelby.tn.us and also have downloaded the recommended  AlternaTIFF  viewer.

  • Have you disabled all restrictions in Windows SteadyState? If this is the case, please also disable restrictions under Set Computer Restrictions and see the result. In this way, we can narrow down if the issue is caused by SteadyState or other system factors.

  • Hi TNLEW, I suggest you temporarily disable the restrictions under User Settings - Feature Restrictions - Internet Explorer restrictions to narrow down if the issue is caused by IE restrictions. Hope this helps!

  • Thank you Sean.  I set restriction level to no restrictions and still see the problem.
