App-v Packages getting unpublished and removed after restart RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using Windows 10 1803 with App-v client enabled. I am importing packages manually and keeping it on the base image. This image is cloned using Citrix MCS as VDIs.

I run below commands to publish packages (example below)

    Add-AppvClientPackage -path '\\srv-ctxfil-01\appv\Notepad++\Notepad++.appv' | Mount-AppvClientPackage | Publish-AppvClientPackage -Global
    Add-AppvClientPackage -Path "\\srv-ctxfil-01\appv\Office 2013 - Appv\ProPlusVolume_en-us_x86.appv" | Mount-AppvClientPackage | Publish-AppvClientPackage -Global

App-v packages are getting published and shortcuts got created after running the above commands. However, after a restart, I don't see any packages (Get-appvclientpackage returns empty).

When I check on the App-v admin operations log, I see those packages are getting unpublished and removed afterwards by using SYSTEM account

Event 1006: Package {a04378bc-f054-4e6e-96a5-72701cf23f00} version {8162e141-be11-4194-8fcf-33c209911e25} was unpublished for all users.

    Followed by

Event 1006: Package {a04378bc-f054-4e6e-96a5-72701cf23f00} version {8162e141-be11-4194-8fcf-33c209911e25} was removed

This is happening for all App-v packages. We have already verified that GPO or logon script is not doing any cleanup. I am attaching screenshot of App-v client config and Event viewer sequence below

If someone could provide assistance that would be really helpful. Thanks again

  • Some scheduled task or a custom script in place that unpublish all packages?

  • Hi Mat-UoN, we are noticing something similar but with Windows Server 2012R2.

We have started noticing the issue this week. We have 2 dev servers that we push out App-V packages to with SCCM and install manually with PowerShell. One of our servers, had lots of App-V packages installed on it and Monday when we came in, there were only 3 App-V packages left. The only thing in could think of was that we had just updated the VDA to 1808 the Friday before on that server.

Checked the logs on the second server that we had updated the VDA to 1808. We updated the VDA on that server on 2018-09-06 and that is also when the Event Id 1006 and 1007 started showing up on that server.

We are rolling back server one from snapshot to the previous VDA version and are leaving the other one as is and contacting Citrix to investigate.

  • the unpublish / removal could possibly done by the appv or sccm server, have you check the server side of logs?

  • We had the same issue in VDA 7.15 CU3 which was released last week. As a workaround, we excluded the App-V component from the VDA installation:

/Exclude "Citrix Personalization for App-V - VDA" as documented here: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/install-configure/appv.html.
