  • Does anyone know how I can get a hold of Sharepoint Foundation 2013 RTM, I'm a Technet and volume license subscriber but all I seem to be able to access is Sharepoint Enterprise 2013 RTM.

  • I don't know for certain, but my guess would be that it will be available for public download around the same time as when SharePoint Server 2013 reaches General Availability (GA) status. Although the Office 2013 wave was Released to Manufacturing (RTM) about two weeks ago, that doesn't mean it can be purchased yet, just that its available to MSDN/TechNet subscribers and customers with Software Assurance. GA comes somewhere between one to three months after RTM, and that's when I'm looking to see Foundation and SPD be available for free download.

The thing to keep in mind about SharePoint Foundation (and SharePoint Designer) is that since they're available as a free download those are typically found through different Microsoft channels than software you pay for such as SharePoint Server or the Office suite.

For example, I've got an MSDN Ultimate subscription, and right now there isn't an option in it for downloading SharePoint Foundation 2010, let alone SharePoint Foundation 2013. I can however download SharePoint Foundation 2010 from Microsoft's Downloads site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5970, and that's where I'd expect to see SharePoint Foundation 2013 available from.

(Note: I realize that SharePoint Designer doesn't exactly fit that model since 2010 can be found in both the MSDN subscriptions page as well as the MS Downloads site, but I suspect that's because it was originally a program you had to buy and because it's not considered to be included in an OS license like SharePoint Foundation is with Windows Server)

  • I don't think SharePoint foundation will be released through TechNet/VL/MSDN as it's usually a free download. My guess would be it will be available once SharePoint 2013 is publicly available, whenever that is.

  • Can anybody please talk to Microsoft and ask that they make SP Foundation and Designer 2013 available on MSDN and Technet?

There is no inherent reason to withhold this, and it would really help (my Designer 2013 Preview does not run on my primary PC).

  • My mistake I meant to say Sharepoint Foundation 2013 RTM is available. (Sharepoint Designer 2013 RTM is available as well)

  • when the sharepoint server 2013 rtm will be released also as a free member of msdn can I get the download link.

  • Please see the SharePoint 2013 Download Portal on the TechNet Wiki at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14491.sharepoint-2013-download-portal.aspx for links to SharePoint 2013 related trial downloads. If you have an MSDN subscription, SharePoint 2013 RTM is available - simply login to MSDN and search for the product you wish to download, then download it.

    I hope this helps,
