  • Question

    Hi All,

I have found a optioins Document version under column general settings of document library.

I we created 10 documents library for our current system and i have ticked this option i just want to know that is this options is saving multiple copy of particular copy in database (mean all version). Because i have found that all version having different sizes. If this is the case then what will happen with database in near future if we have lots of documnets on sharepoint portal with all versions.

please clear my doubts so i can think for this because it will consumes lots of unneccassary space in database.

  • Hello Praveen,

Versioning in SharePoint does save multiple copies of the document, one per each version you have. You can limit the number of versions that SharePoint will use.

So, if you need versioning, you will have to allocate much more database storage than usual.
