Where are RDLs stored? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello:

I'm wondering where SSRS 2005 saves the RDL -- is it within the project/solution directory that is stored locally on my PC, or does a copy of the RDL also get saved on the Report Server?

I'm inquiring because when I work with Crystal Reports & Crystal Reports Server, a copy of the report file is actually stored on the CR Server. So, I'm wondering if SSRS also saves a copy of the RDL on the server. If so, how can I "download" a copy of a given RDL (especially if my local RDL file gets corrupted/overwritten)?

    Thanks,

    Pete

  • I believe the rdl files are save out to the server.

To get a copy go to the properties, then click edit and save the file to your local machine. Next you'll need to add the file to the report folder. Now you should be able to open the file as before.

  • The RDL files are stored in the metadata database of the report server. There are several options to retrieve them - please check this related thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=488575&SiteID=1
