  • Hi,

If you use command "format", you can do it like "format <drive letter>: /FS:FAT32".

If you use File Explorer, do like this.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for providing screenshots.

According to them, size of your USB stick is too small for FAT32.
When allocation size is less than 512MB, FAT32 is not available.

Please refer to the following article:

  • I do not understand why the Win7 Propeties recognize 1.93 megabyte capacity while the 31.8 megabyte format is recognized. If I format NTFS is also error you see my image file.

  • USB flash drives are not the same as hard disk drives and requires utilities specifically designed to deal with them.

Windows does not have the inherent capability to deal with USB flash drives as you are trying to do.

You will have to either contact the manufacturer for the USB drive for a utility or search the internet for a utility to accomplish your goal.

  • Hi,

I have just got noticed... J is CD Drive and its file system is CDFS.
And I don't know why you want to format a USB flash memory with FAT32.

    # someone mentioned that USB flash drives are not the same as hard drives and require utilities.... I'm afraid it's incorrect. They are the same from the point of File System, and USB flash memory does not require special software. (It requires special tools, if we want to create a bootable USB drive.)

  • I want to turn USB token into USB normally through NTFS format, not necessarily FAT32, USB also have CDFS structure, what is the remaining software to use to format them ?! Win7 can not be formatted, so there must be some way to format the USB, this is my USB image, you see the image file

  • Hi,

I'm sorry I misunderstood your device (You surely wrote it was USB token).

USB token is a special device for saving digital key, having IC chip in it. So, it is recognized as a smart card / IC card. It's definitely different from usual USB flash memory.

You cannot use it as USB flash memory. Sorry for my misunderstanding.
