Not All Volumes and Shares available on Data Srouce RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running DPM 2016

I have fully functionning Data Protection on multiple servers but on one server (our file server with DFS) only 3 out of 4 volumes are visible if I browse the Data Source for protection.

The volume in case is an attached VHD file (The entire platform is located on azure) just like one of the other volumes. Volume S is visible and backs up perfectly through DPM. Volume T simply is not visible.

Probably related: I usually backup machines through the volumes and not the shares but if I enumerate all the shares available for backup only a handful are visible there as well.

I tried rebooting both Data Source and DPM machine multiple times, updating the Agent to the latest version. Nothing seems to change.

Any ideas? What method actually enumerates the available data sources on a machine with a DPM agent?

  • Managed to get all the shares located on Volume S to appear by following the following advice:

Shares located on Volume T or Volume T itself still not visible.

  • Closing and opening the DPM Console fixed that also.
