  • Hi Shoaib_MW

Best way to fix everything is to first check dhcp. Check under scope options: 006 dns should be your dns ip address,

066 should be your wds ip address,

067 should be something like this depens on (32/64bit) boot\x64\wdsnbp.com or boot\x86\wdsnbp.com,

    015 your domain

060 Pxeclient (maybe u not gonna see it)

Go to wds and right click on it and choose proporties, Go to DHCP tab and check both options. After that everything should work.

Go to PXE Response and choose Respond to all client computers (known and unknown) and leave option under unchecked.

WDS services- the issue can be that Local System account does not have the needed Security rights to configure WDS. U can add a Domain admin account to start up the wds service and turn back to Local System after it started correctly.

If u reinstall wds to a computer that has DHCP locally check this link http://benosullivan.co.uk/windows/the-wds-windows-deployment-services-service-wont-start/

  • Hi,

At first, I would like confirm that you have made the DHCP scope on your DHCP server. If not, you need to add the DHCP scope before WDS PXE client booting from the network.

Then you also need to check some known issues with configuring Windows Deployment Services according to the link below:

Title: Windows Deployment Services Getting Started Guide
    URL: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771670(v=ws.10).aspx

After that, you could reboot your WDS client to verify whether the issue could be reproduced or not. And let me know the result.

    Regards,
    James

  • Previously when my WDS server was restarting i was using DHCP pool with 50 IPs to over come dhcp issue I have added IPs in DHCP pool range, now i'm using 200 IPs. WDS is working smoothly now.

Thanks for replying James and Ultra Cool.

  • Hello James,

My WDS server Is DC with DNS and DHCP is installed
on same server. DHCP pool is 172.168.0.20 - 172.168.0.30 and Server IP
    is 172.168.0.10.

Now when i installed WDS Server I was working
fine and i prepared 5 Windows 7 PCs from it and after that DHCP was not
issuing IPs to PXE clients. Facing same issues till now and one more new
issue came since 3 days, WDS Service is not starting i tried to start
it from Services.msc but it's not starting.

Can you please help me with that????

    Shoaib.

  • Have you tried to look into the Event Viewer to verify whether there are some related errors or warnings included?

At the same time, one of the possible causes is related to the permission settings in the ADUC, there is a link for your reference:

  • Thanks For replying James and Ultra cool,

Ultra Cool i have followed your guidelines and it worked but after installing 5 PCs through WDS PXE client were unable to get IPs from WDS server,

then i restarted server and it started to work again.

i want my WDS server fully functional.
