Closing IE tabs after unlocking Windows by user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My users are working with IE8 o Windows 7 SP1 and they have critical issue now.

When the users unlocked Windows and trying to logon to their profiles, IE tabs closed automatically and they have to open them again. Have you same experience?

  • Hi,

    Start>Event Viewer>Windows Events

The faulting module value in the Event viewer record will indicate which IE Addon (Toolbar or browser helper) is causing the problem... Post back with the report for further assistance. Off hand I do not know of any IE Toolbar or BHO that causes tab crashes when a machine is brought out of hibernation... there is some internet handshaking done by IE, possibly the Google Toolbar Helper may be checking for updates from the google servers. (you will see the Google services running in the tasks manager).

... generally tab crashes are ALWAYS caused by COM Addons. The first step in troubleshooting web browser issues is to test in noAddons Mode.

Related also is users tweaking the IE security zone settings. They should always accept your company's default settings (configured with GPO). Tools>Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default"

Support for IE8 on Win7 ends at the beginning of next year.

    Regards.
