administrators can't access to DFS 2000 replicated data RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I recently setup new DFS to be replicated with main DFS server. the folders are all replicated fine, with by defualt local administrators group having access.

on old server, domain administrators can access to any folder, while on replicated only who having direct access to the folder does have access while administrators does not.

I take control on one folder to check and confirm that administrators group already having full access and "domain admins" member of local administrators group, so it should have access by defualt but it's not.

so to make it simple, "local administrators group" already assign to the folder but members of that group on new DFS server still can't access it.

  • Hi,

It seems related to UAC. Whether the new server is a Windows 2008 while the old server is Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 with UAC disabled?

Give domain admins group enough permission on new server (it will be replicated to old server, of course) to see if it will back to work.

In Windows 2008 (and Windows Vista/7/2008 R2), accounts in Administrators group are working as standard accounts so it will be denied when trying to access a folder which only Administrators group has permission.
