MySQL Management Pack RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am looking for a management pack that will help monitor a MySQL Database running on a Linux/Unix Server.  I can get most of what I need by using the Unix/Linux Management Pack but actually monitors for the database itself I need help with. I have only found one third party product from https://bridgeways.com/products/mysql-monitoring-reporting but the client I am at may not want to spend the money.

Just reaching out to see if anyone has created any MySQL management packs in the past.

  • Hi Kristopher,

It doesn't look that it's any free MP for MySQL. Jalasoft had one (not sure that it was a free one), but it was discontinued.

  • At TechEd Europe in October 2014, we (Microsoft) announced that we are building a MySQL management pack as part of the "vNext" version of System Center.   It's mentioned in this public presentation:  http://search.channel9.msdn.com/content/result?sid=7775e5ca-29a2-43fb-80a3-f57ccef2bf87&rid=cf7120d6-c492-439d-9672-a3d300aca295.

Availability as part of "vNext" won't help you meet a customer requirement today, but just be aware that it's on the roadmap.

  • Thanks guys.  I did find a management pack that you have to pay for.  Not going that route.  I also found the older management pack mentioned above and a site that actually has the management pack broken down to show the XML and scripts needed  to rebuild it.  I am going to go that route for now.
