Conversation history folder missing, cannot save conversations RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a stable and working OCS environment in our organization and have only one user for whom I simply cannot, no matter what I try, recreate the conversation history folder in her Outlook and have her communicator conversations saved.

    Environment:
OCS 2007 R2 standard edition server
    Communicator client 2007 R2 3.5.6907.261
    Windows 7 x64 SP1 using Outlook 2010 SP1

The conversation history folder disappeared when we migrated her over to Windows 7 from Windows XP.

    What we've tried:
    - recreated her Outlook mail profile
    - deleted and recreated her Office Communications server user account (disable, delete, enable)
    - restored her pre-Windows7-migration conversation history folder from Exchange backups
    - created a new folder manually in Outlook called "Conversation History"
    - tried to manually save conversation by going to File --> Save as E-mail in Communicator
    - had her try saving conversations to email from different computers

None of the above has ever created the Conversation History folder in Outlook like it should when a conversation has been saved (whether manually forcing it or letting Communicator do it automatically). Nor has it saved to the existing "Conversation History" folder when we tried manually creating the folder.

Note that "Save my instant message conversations in the Outlook Conversation History folder" option is turned on by default using GPO and is greyed out.

  • HI,

When the Conversation History folder is delete, It will be recreated automatically. So please check the folder in the OWA.

Use other PC to log in the outlook and ocs client to check the issue again.

  • This issue is your running Office 2010 x64 and Office Communicator doesn't support all functions of Office x64 like creating the Conversation History folder.

You need to run Office 2010 x86 for it to work correctly.

  • Go to the file from Outlook then go to 'Manage COM Add-Ins' from Info page and enable the add-in there.
