Issue with folder redirection: Primary computers

    Question

  • Hey All,

    I work for a small company with a windows domain environment. I'm having an issue with setting up folder redirection for primary computers only. "Redirect folders on primary computers only" is defined and enabled in the User Configuration of the "Folder Redirection" Group Policy, but folder redirection insist "Primary Computer Evaluation: Not evaluated because primary computer policy is not enabled". The Group Policy is properly configured and passing the information to the client workstation, the users msDs-PrimaryComputer attribute is defined properly, but windows continues to redirect ALL user folders.. I receive a warning in event viewer upon logging into a workstation and is as follows:

    - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

      </Event>

    It seems like the user attributes are not being accounted for..

    ANY help is appreciated, this thing is driving me insane..

  • Hi,

    From the description, it seems that all steps are done. So it is a little difficult to find out the exact problem in setup.

    You may already found this article. Please check for each step and see if any one of them is skipped:

    Do you use mandatory profiles?

  • I have double checked all the steps, i have some screenshots that may help diagnose the problem if you could handle "verifying my account".

    I do not have mandatory profiles set up, Although the default profile is modified to our needs. (Desktop icons and a few other preferences)

    Did you verify in "gpresult /h report.html" that the user setting
    arrives successfully, and that there is no opposite computer setting?

    "Redirect folders on primary computers only" is reporting enabled on BOTH the Computer Configuration and User Configuration on the client workstation.

    Then I'm partially out of luck - during writing my book, I definitely
    evaluated this feature and found it working. But I don't remember too
    well if there were any issues - that was more than 2 years ago :()
