Convert User of Old Domain to New Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have users in my Old domain which is on Server 2003.

now I want to move that user from old server to new Server which is on Server 2008. i am not using Exchange server..

is there any way to convert this?

right now. I need to make change on client machine. like change domain name from old one to new one. and by doing that, the profile path(s) are changed and i need to copy all old data from old path(s) to new one..

is there any way to overcome this?...

  • Is there any particular reason why you need to move the users to a new domain?  If I were you, I'd just install the Windows Server 2008 server as a domain controller in the existing domain.

Otherwise, you might want to use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8377
