Can't install IIS7 on windows Vista ultimate. RRS feed

    Hi,

I read a few KB about this issue but none of them help me solve my problem.

when i'm trying to add the IIS feature using the add/remove windows feature i'm able to select this option.

Then i see a dialog says that this could take few minutes but after 20 minutes it's close and i get the following error:

'An error occurred - some of the features have not been installed".

how can i fix this issue ? should i format my machine ? i really don't want to do it.

can someone help me on this.

  • Too late,

i think i tried it already.

The problem was that no matter which feature i want to turn ot or off the system hang and only after 30 minutes i got a failure message.

so i thought this issue is related to SP1 and i tired to remove it but it fail in some point.

and the OS could not start any more, even when i used the dvd disk of Vista i could not start format the machine.

so i installed XP after formatting the machine.

i don't think i'm going to install Vista on the near future.

    but, thanks for your help.

  • Hi,

Before moving on, please confirm whether the Windows Process Activation Service was installed on the computer.

If so, please turn off it to test this issue.

Turn off Windows Process Activation Service

    =========================

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    2. Double-click Programs and Features.

    3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.

    4. Click to clear the Windows Process Activation Service check box, and then click OK.

    5. Click Restart Now to restart the computer.

Then, please refer to the following article to install IIS 7.0 on Windows Vista.

Installing IIS 7.0 on Windows Vista

    http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/28/installing-iis7-on-vista/

if the issue still persists, please find the CBS log in WINDOWS\Logs\CBS folder and send it to the following link:

I will perform a research on it once I get the CBS log.

  • I have a similar problem.

Same error when trying to install any of the IIS features on Vista Business...

And I searched for Windows/logs/cbs and found nothing.

I have tried installing through the terminal as well.  Nothing.

    Any help would be appreciated.
