Random hang & blue screen RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi all,

Recently my laptop has been hanging, shutting down by itself and also going blue screen. =( This has never happened before since the past days and I even re-installed windows all over again, yet I am still having the problem. What should I do? I'm not in the country where I bought my laptop (Bought in Indonesia)! I have defragged my drives, did a full scan with my Kaspersky Internet Security anti-virus, checked for any errors on my drives and still having problems. Below on my specs it says i3/i5/i7, I'm using Core i3.

    Thanks for reading.

  • Hello,

Please use Microsoft Skydrive to upload dump files (c:\windows\minidump). Once done, post a link here.

You can also contact Microsoft CSS for assistance.

If you want to debug dump files by yourself then use Windbg and refer to this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

  • There are no files in (c:\windows\minidump) and I even went to folder options to show hidden files. =/ Also, my computer has rarely "hanged" and went "blue screen" but it still happens.

Is there a file named MEMORY.DMP under c:\windows? If yes then zip it and upload it.

Do you have free disk space? If no then free some space for generation of dump files.

Another possible cause for non-generation of dump files is that there is a hardware issue. If it is the case, I would recommend contacting your manufacturer Technical Support for more diagnosis.
