make file from windows explorer screen RRS feed

  • I want to catalog my many thumbdrives. I would like to look at each thumbdrive with windows explorer. I would then like to take the displayed information and make a flie of it. I will label the file the name of the particular thumbdrive. I don't want to simply screen print. Thanks!!

  • Assuming that your thumb drive is visible on drive H:, you can do this:

    1. Click the Start globe.
    2. Type this command in the Search box: cmd  /c  dir  /b  /s  h:\  > h:\Files.txt

    The file h:\Files.txt will now contain a list of all files found on drive H:.
