Users cannot open shared documents with Windows Explorer by using Actions > Open with Windows Explorer- IAG 2007 SP2 and Sharepoint 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

We have published SP 2007 documentlibrary in IAG with SP2. But when user accessing SP 2007 portal through IAG , they can not use Actions > Open with Windows Explorer option. Nothing happens by clickingit. IAG WEb Monitor displays nothing.

Can anyone please guide me how to solve Actions > Open with Windows Explorer  option in Sharepoint 2007 published in IAG SP2?

  • Hi Ash,

As long as on MOSS side your exteranal URL is able to access the portal directly and you can load the shared document without IAG then on IAG using AAM template of publication for MOSS 2007 should work accordingly. The new AAM template on IAG for MOSS enables 100% SharePoint functionality.

    thanks,

  • Did you publish using the old "backward compatibility" template that utilizes IAG HAT, or did you publish with the newer SP2007 template which integrates with SP AAM?   The later is the best practice and is likely the solution if you used the older template.

  • Hello All,

The culprit is Microsoft Office 2003. Yes, Microsoft Office 2003.

Install Microsoft Office 2003 SP1 or later in client machine from where it is accessing Sharepoint Explorer View via IAG.

There is no stuff available on internet , but we have successfully tested this scenario.

If you install MS Office 2003 SP1 or later in client machines this options work preety well and when you uninstall it, situation is same as previous, i.e. nothing happens when you click on Explorer view. I have tested it for several times and found the same observation.

This 'awkward' relationship between IAG/SP2007/MS Office can be verified when you click "Applications--->Published SP 2007 application name...--->General-->Application Aware Settings(at utmost bottom,in blue fonts)" in IAG console. This opens a Help window and you can see the word ".." Maximal Integration" between clients and Sharepoint application Microsoft Office 2003 SP1 or higher is required.".

    LOLl!!!
