Black screen of death RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi after my computer boots it gets stuck on a black screen with a mouse cursor in the middle. I have been researching and reading for a solution but have not found one that works for me. I can't boot into safe mode or even safe mode with command prompt so i cant do any registry fixes which some people suggest. Iv also tried last known good configuration but that didnt work either. ctrl + alt + delete doesn't work either. iv tried doing a clean install and using the windows diagnostics and recovery toolset version 6. but they havnt worked either, it is like the computer cannot read the discs. Please does anyone have any solutions that i may try? Thank you very much for your help in advance.

  • Hi,
I got some doubts about ur problem

     1. Whether you have installed Windows Vista earlier and is it in working state?
     2. Which version of Windows Vista do u have?
     3. Do you updated any drivers?
     4. What is ur PC Hardware configuration?

You have wrote like, you did clean install using Recovery toolset version6. Instead, you can format the drive and install Windows Vista freshly.

  • Hi, I can tell you what i think the problem is.. It sounds most likely that somethings gone wrong during the installation.. presumming theres no data the you need to keep on the drive like photo's etc..  for the next step try pressing f8 or f2 when loading up and look for the system recovery option, this will only work if the drive was partitioned and has a copy of vista and the drivers on it.  the other option if you have a disk id to press f10 or f12 when booting and selct to boot from the dvd drive, re-format the drive and re-install vista. Falkirk PC and Laptop repair Engineers - Logic Computer Services If there is data on the drive don't do either of the above or you'll lose it.. either take it to a computer repair place or buy the necessary cables or adapters from ebay and connect the hard drive up to a PC and get the data off that way.
