WsusUtil.exe postinstall /servicing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard

WSUS installed and full working with SQLServer2014 DB (not WID)

When I try the manual steps to install KB3159706, the first step looks like it completes:

    C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools>WsusUtil.exe postinstall /servicing

Log file is located at C:\Users\jhoddinott\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpA13B.tmp
    Post install is starting
    Post install has successfully completed

However if I look at the .tmp file I see this at the bottom:

2016-05-11 14:50:47  Install type is: Reinstall
2016-05-11 14:50:47  Install type is Reinstall, but should be Upgrade.  Cannot service the database
    2016-05-11 14:50:47  Swtching DB to multi-user mode......

    How can I solve this?

    Thanks

  • Hi sialaser,

    1. After running the post-installation command, could you open the WSUS console without problem?

    2. Does the WSUS server work well?

    3. Is there a fatal error in the tmp file?

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hi Anne,

WSUS console open without problem, WSUS server work well since four years.

tmp files contains only "Cannot service the database" message.

I would not rinstall WSUS but how would like to release Win10 Anniversary update.

I'm unable to change WebConfig file for KB3159706 because many rows are missing.

    Could you help me?

    Regards,

    Dario
