Windows 10 1703 installed unexpectedly RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on our issue: Windows 10 1703 installed unexpectedly today even though we have enabled GPO's to set our computers as "Current Branch for Business/Semi-Annual Channel" and "Delay feature updates by 60 days.

According to the table on Windows 10 1703 was available on 7/11/2017 and so add 60 days, and that should put it at around 9/10/2017 about 2 weeks ago !?!?

Any thoughts why many of users are just getting the update notifications today? This one is pretty strange.

  • Whats also strange is that the windows updates -> advanced settings screen has also changed. After the update, it showed the screen below and then a reboot later, it shows "current branch for business" which isnt reflected in the screenshot. But that is what our GPO does. The GPO also defers the upgrade by 60 days. But this screen doesnt reflect that ?

  • from the page you linked:
The Semi-Annual Channel replaces the Current Branch (CB) and Current Branch for Business (CBB) concepts
    Semi-Annual Channel 1703 15063.632 7/11/2017 9/25/2017
so 1703 was released more then 60 days ago, and thus you get this version since 2 Weeks.

You are right that this is confusing: control panel still lets you select "Current Branch for Business", while the page says that there is no longer such a thing. (and then lists it in the table?!)

    typical Microsoft.

    and then this:
For Windows Update for Business policies to be honored, the Telemetry level of the device must be set to 1 (Basic) or higher. If it is set to 0 (Security), Windows Update for Business policies will have no effect. For instructions, see Configure the operating system telemetry level.
