Run different postscript for each protection group RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know we could modify ScriptingConfig.xml to run pre/post backupscript:

    <PreBackupScript>”Path\Script Parameters” </PreBackupScript>

     <PostBackupScript>"Path\Script Parameters” </PostBackupScript>

But what if customer need to run different scripts for different protection group?

i.e. customer has 10 protection group to backup different target. And they need to run different script after backup job complete for each group.

  • Hi,

The Scriptingconfig.xml is configured on the protected server (PS) and is used to run scripts when a defined data source is backed up.  It does not matter how many protection groups that protected server belongs to.

    Using Pre-Backup and Post-Backup Scripts

When you install a protection agent on a computer, a ScriptingConfig.xml file is added to the install path\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM\Scripting folder on the protected computer. For each protected data source on the computer, you can specify a pre-backup script and a post-backup script in ScriptingConfig.xml.
