Exchange transport service getting auto start even its paused, disabled and stopped RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Exchange transport service getting auto start even its paused, disabled or stopped.

We tried to stop the transport service in Exchange 2013 mailbox server, but its getting auto start even after we disabled it.

Is it normal behaviour? how to rectify this issue?

  • Hi MD,

When you disabled this service, what did you do the next? reboot the server?

By default, the startup type of the exchange transport service is automatic, when you reboot the server, the service will auto start no matter what the state before(even it is paused, disabled, stopped).

In addition, every message that's sent or received in an Exchange 2013 organization must be categorized in the Transport service on a Mailbox server before it can be routed and delivered, it is an so important service for mail flow, Why do you want to stop the Exchange transport service ?

More details about this service for your reference:

    Best regards,
