Windows 7 freezes after startup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Yesterday when I started up my pc it froze after the initial startup finished.  Icons are loaded and cursor is active, but can't click on anything.  CTRL-ALT-DEL does not work either.  Ran a scan from  Command bar in DOS mode and found nothing viral.  Iam only able to reboot using the power button and have the same issues if I start in Safe Mode.  My computer is at this point unusable.  I  have tried to use the computer basic restore function and that does not clear the problem.  I am hesitant to do a complete restore until I have exhausted all avenues to rectify this issue.  Don't want to loose files and emails that  are not backed  up.  Any suggestions on what I can try.  I have had the pc since 12/11 and this is the first issue I have had with this.

  • Hi,

Before you reinstall, try to perform an in-place upgrade, this would not delete your personal files:

  • Have you tried using the keystroke method to navigate?  Is this the only comp available?
