support video insip trunk from lync RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I use asterisk connect to Lync server . From lync it regard the connection as a sip trunk or direct sip connection .

Can this path support video , I try below . I use tcp connect from astersik to lync .

The video call is no response , from wirheshark log , I see there is video SDP from asterisk to lync .But the lync reply

video port 0 , so, it seem lync do not support video over sip trunk or sip connection.....

    Any idea and suggestion ????

  • It's not possible to support the video modality over calls which travel through SIP trunks.  All SIP traffic directed toward a media gateway or SIP trunk will have the m=video section of the SDP stripped from the signaling traffic.  This behavior is hard coded in Lync and you cannot modify it.

In order to support video calling you need to use a solution that leverages the Trusted Application Host model for routing SIP traffic.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. It depends on the hardware configuration of Mediation Server. Please refer to "Mediation Server" section in the following link:

  • Hi,

Video between asterisk and Lync is not supported over a SIP trunk.

  • Hi all,

Is this possible now in Lync 2013? Or does sending video through an Asterisk SIP Trunk still not supported?

    Thank you.
