Hotkey Primary Displays RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Ok this should be simple but its proven to be a really annoying task

I have a 21in computer monitor and I also have a 47 HDTV hooked up to my computer with a Radeon HD 6950

I want to be able to change the primary display while keeping the other one as extended without having to go through all those pesky menus.

No Win+P is not what I'm looking for

I would also not have to use some third party program to do this

on another note I did find this program called DisMon which was part of a set of tools called DualMonitorTools-1.8 and I can set it to a hotkey and it will do what I want it to but once I close the program it reverts the settings it has changed. Maybe it could be made as part of a service?

  • Edit: I've found out how to do this perfect!

Ok first you need to need to get that program DisMon

    http://dualmonitortool.sourceforge.net/dismon.html

Now you can set your own parameters with the program their explained in the link.

so I made a shotcut with the parameters -1p -x    this set the primary monitor to the 1st monitor then exits the program while keeping the settings. then I used the Catalyst Control Center hotkey options to set it to my hotkey!

I also did -2p -x to set my HDTV as primary and exit while saving the setting and hotkeyed the same way

    Hope this helps others!
