Lost Pictures RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m running windows xp sp3 and have a problem with lost picture files.

Under “My Pictures” I have a folder titled “Family Pictures.”  Windows Explorer indicates the folder is empty, but the folder properties show it to contain 857 MB of data.  I tried everthing I know but am unable to access anything in the folder.

However, Windows “screen saver” displays many pictures from this folder with the path and name of each picture displayed across the top of the picture.  For example:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Carl\My Documents\My Pictures\Family Pictures\Found.002\dir0002.chk\2006-06-16\007_7_0002.jpg

The screen saver display the picture beautifully, so the data must be there somewhere.  Is there a way I can access these pictures?

  • Try setting the following option in Explorer.  It will show hidden files in the folder.

Tools > Folder Options... > View tab > Show hidden files
